Harold Bloom is an asshole

Via Paul Krugman, I find out that 87 year-old Doris Lessing has won a Nobel prize.

Quoting from the AP article:

However, American literary critic Harold Bloom called the academy's decision "pure political correctness."

"Although Ms. Lessing at the beginning of her writing career had a few admirable qualities, I find her work for the past 15 years quite unreadable ... fourth-rate science fiction," Bloom told The Associated Press.

Oooh, snap!

What ToDo 1.3 is out!

I released What ToDo 1.3 (my Getting Things Done task management app for Mac) last night. The new version adds task colors, task priority, and and rich text editing of task and context notes, as well as a bunch of minor UI improvements.

What ToDo 1.2 was released in early July, so this has been a long time coming. These new features don't sound like a lot, but there was a large amount of infrastructure work that had to get done before I could add them. Now that this work is done, I hope to be able to add features at a much faster clip.

For the first time in a long while, I'm really excited about what's coming down the pike with What ToDo. It's going to be a fun ride.

Dems play hardball on CA Electoral College ballot initiative

"The Democratic group even dug up a [sic] charges from a 17-year-old lawsuit against one official backing the initiative, a charge involving the biting of a woman’s bottom, and disseminated that as well."
(from an article in the New York Times).

Warms the cockles of my heart.
