Global Talk: A new Mac program for learning Mandarin

Bob Kressin, of Global Talk Software, who schleps up from Colorado Springs for the Denver CocoaHeads, has a beta of a new program for learning Mandarin Chinese from flashcards. It's a lot more advanced than your standard flashcard program and looks awesome.

Hey Devin --

Thanks for making a post on Global Talk! I just wanted to point out that I just put a scaled-down version of Global Talk, called "Global Word" out there for private Beta testing.

It is a Chinese-English Dictionary containing 50,000 Chinese characters. With its radical index and Spotlight search capability, I really hope it proves to be a valuable tool to any student of the Chinese language

Cheers!

Hi Devin --

Just wanted to let you know that Global Word is now officially shipping and can be downloaded off my website for a free, 30-day trial. I've gone back to working on Global Talk, which will not only include the 50,000+ word dictionary, but it also will also give users the ability to build and print flashcard decks, listen to spoken Mandarin, print handwriting practice sheets, and much more. Super secret hint ... it may even somehow make use of an iPod ... ;-)

Check it out! Hope all is well! Are you going to Macworld? It's a-comin' pretty fast.

Take care,

Bob
